Mestno gledališče ljubljansko

Director: Sebastijan Horvat

Cast: Iva Krajnc, Viktorija Bencik, Ana Dolinar, Nika Rozman, Laura Zafred, Klemen Slakonja, Jurij Drevenšek, Matej Puc, Jaka Lah, Gregor Gruden, Domen Valič, Judita Zidar, Boris Ostan.

Musicians: Miran Juvan, Robi Pikl, Janez Gabrič, Janez Hace, Barbara Žorž, Klemen Bračko, Jelena Ždrale

Germany, late 19th century. The gap between teenagers becoming young adults, discovering eroticism and sexuality, and their parents who aren’t able to deal with it in an open and responsible way. On one hand there is distress giving rise to questions, and on the other hand there is prejudice, refusing to give answers. Three teenagers are the protagonists of the story. There is Wendla whose mother denies her the answers and who keeps secret the basic truth about growing up; Moritz caught in the pinch of problems at school, and Melchior Gabor whose mother is more liberal than the other. They are uninformed, somewhat lonely and dishonest which takes them on the road to disaster that could well be averted.

This well known “childhood tragedy”, where Frank Wedekind criticises the hypocritical turn of the century bourgeois society in 1891, was the basis for a huge musical hit that swooped Broadway and West End off its feet. Wedekind’s original text was upgraded by Steven Sater’s and Duncan Sheik’s extraordinary songs, distinguished by expressive lyrics, and a suggestive rock sound.

An angel or better… a female angel. What happens when this mysterious creature appears in a square? Wonder, curiosity and fun take over… A funny, a bit messy angel, knows how to make people laugh but doesn’t know how to fly… She can not fly? Yes, that’s his problem. She tries all, to jump, run and ride a pigeon, to hijack a gull, to get help from a passer-by in disbelief.

A unique play, original and innovative. Comic burlesque theater, juggling and mime.

Their music journey goes from Morocco to Yemen, or from Castille to Yemen, as the voyage taken in the 13th century by Benjamin de Palencia. They have tried to show the diversity of these styles and places. They interpret the sounds of the Sephardi of Morocco

IPC – “Sarajevo winter” started the initiative for building Concert Hall at Marijin Dvor, based on the competition organized by the City of Rome in cooperation with the Sarajevo Canton. Zaha Hadid, presiding the jury, declared the winner “Urban Futura” group, which gathers architects from Europe, America and Asia, among 400 projects from 43 countries. The location for the Concert Hall is reserved at Marijin Dvor in Sarajevo, and since 1998 it is in Regulatory plan of Marijin Dvor (situated across the Parliament Assembly of B&H ).

IPC – “Sarajevo Winter”, gave suggestion to nominate the City of Sarajevo for the “European Cultural Capital 2014”, taking into consideration that cities from Norway and Turkey, as non-EU members were accepted for that prestigious project initiated by Melina Mercuri with Jack Lang, the project that EU can be proud of.

The strength and the originality of their sound comes from the mixture of these different experiences and research and a study of non-traditional music channels. The group was formed in 2007 and presented their first musical project „It’s all about making notes“ during the International Festival of Street Art Pennabilli (Italy – Rimini) „Artists in the Square 2009“. They took part in the SMIAFestival in 2008 and 2009.
