Bulgarian Representative Guard Orchestra
The Bulgarian Representative Guard Orchestra is the successor to the first Bulgarian Military Orchestra, founded in 1879 in Veliko Tarnovo. The Orchestra participates in state ceremonies, parades and develops solo concert activity. The Representative Guard Orchestra represents Bulgaria at major international music festivals – The Music Parade and Berlin Tatoo Festival in Germany, the World’s Best Orchestras Festival in St. Petersburg, Russia. Has held concerts in Italy, Hungary, France, Turkey, Israel, and Romania. The orchestra is the winner of many national and international awards and is the only orchestra from Eastern Europe awarded with the Italian Presidency Award in the field of music and culture. The Chief Conductor of the Bulgarian Army and Music Director of the Bulgarian Guard Orchestra is maestro Radi Radev.

Maestro Radi Radev
Music director and Chief conductor
Bulgarian Representative Guard Orchestra
Maestro Radi Radev was born in Dobrich, Bulgaria. He completed his secondary music school “Filip Kutev” in the city of Kotel in 1991. He obtained high music education at the Academy of Music and Dance Arts in Plovdiv, in major conducting and composition. Maestro Radev started his musical career at the State Folk Ensemble “Trakija” – Plovdiv and worked at the Bulgarian state radio, for which he has written about 400 musical pieces. Since 2007 he is the music director and chief conductor of the Bulgarian Representative Guard Orchestra, and since 2008, he is the chief conductor of the Bulgarian Army. He is a winner of numerous national and international awards and recognitions, among which is the highest honour by the President of the Republic of Bulgaria – the Order “St. St. Cyril and Methodius”- for achievements in the field of music. Maestro Radi Radev is has been honoured by the Council of the European Scientific and Cultural Community with the award “Golden Monet” for contribution to the development of Bulgarian music culture.
